Bathing outdoors in nature from the privacy of your own shower is one of life's most wonderful luxuries.
There are many stairs down to the lake. Small Landing areas and illumination points along the way will make it a much easier walk for you and your family. The young and the young-at-heart will have fun taking the slide right into Little Mirror Lake. The antique hand pump provides water for the daring slide ride. There is also a ladder to climb in and out of the water. Down by the lake, you can sit on the cozy built-in bench to enjoy the sun. Explore the lake in the canoe or the two kayaks available for your use. You may even want to do some fishing. Looking up at the house from the stairs going to the lake, you’ll see that this lovely log cabin is picture-perfect.

Very easy booking process and good communication with emails describing the checkin process prior to arriving
Loved the property and all it had to offer! We only wish we had booked a longer stay as there is so much to do both in the home and on the lake. Well be back as this home is perfectly sized for bringing family or friends.

Friendly and knowledgeable.
We loved the cabin and the lake! Plenty of hiking areas. There are only 2 things I would like to be changed: the grill was not clean and unable to cook alot of food at one time. We had 7 in the cabin and then the solar light on the deck and steps going to the lake did not work. But we loved it and would love to go back soon. Also the kitchen was stocked with plenty of appliances.

I called last minute to ask if we could come a day early and they were very friendly and accommodating.
The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed.
Beautiful cabin with everything we needed! Well maintained. Happy that there was some toilet paper and dish soap when we got there. Everything was easy and convenient. Friendly service.

Every time I had an inquiry i received a timely and accurate response. The responsiveness and the willingness to help was above and beyond.
Loved the entire stay. Thoughts on what could have made the stay better. 2 rolls of toilet paper instead of 1 would have been more convenient. The board games were very disorganized. The direct tv, one remote did not work. We tried but could not figure out the dvd player. The ping pong table could have had a chalk board for score on the wall. The oing pong net was not secure. The cabin was a ten out of ten, I am only suggesting things that would enhance the stay.
We want to bring more family this summer.

4 Bear Pause is a marvelous property. The home is in a quiet beautiful area. We enjoyed the kayaks and canoes very much and also the pool and ping pong tables. The home was large enough to accommodate a family of 9 very comfortably. Would definitely recommend this home.

The experience was great. The house was exactly as pictured and the communication was great!
Great houseexactly as pictured, and there was so much to do! Since the pandemic prevents us from doing a lot in public, we felt so lucky that the house offered so much! We really loved the privacy of the house as well as the two kayaks and canoe, hot tub, hammock, tons of games and the great nature trail in the development. We all loved it and were never bored!

Excellent. We called about getting an early check in and the person answering was very courteous and gave us a complementary early check in. Thanks!
Overall great. A few things that need attention: The outside patio furniture needs cleaning badly. The stairs/walkway to the dock also need cleaning/pressure washing. Looks like it hasn't been done in several years. The steps were slippery because of the mildew/mold growth. Inside was very clean. The hottub was clean. The lower level sliding door needs to be repaired. It is hard to close once opened. Also the door knob/handle to the main level deck is loose and came off, we slid it back on but it needs to be secured. kayaks/canoe need to be cleaned/wiped down. Overall a great time. thanks.

Even though it rained 6 plus inches our stay was excellent....never got bored as the pool table...ping pong table and many games made the inside stay awesome. Valerie is great to work with and the properties she recommends are top notch.
We had to cut our trip short due to the rain and many things at home happening due to the weather but I will be back again as the house is great...absolutely perfect.

Great experience. Such a wonderful trip. Only thing we didn't agree with is we were responsible for cleaning, dishes and trash. Shouldn't that be covered in the fee?
Note from manager:
We ask that all guests please start the dishwasher when they leave, no other cleaning required at all and in our remote area there is no regular garbage service that is why we ask that you please take it to the compactor at the front gate.
We apologize for this inconvenience and hope that overall you were still able to enjoy your time in our beautiful area.
Can't wait to return in the near future with my family. We all had a wonderful time. Thank you.Beautiful!!!
I previously rented a different cabin just a few weeks prior to this trip, and 4 Bear Pause hands down was the best!

Very nice and responsive when I had questions about parking and charcoal.
Only two gate passes were provided but we did manage to fit all 4 cars in the driveway. It was a great time with great friends. We loved the hot tub and the kayaks and canoe. We also did some fishing and caught a few. Overall it was a wonderful time and we already plan to come back next year.

NOTE from Property Manager: Please know that person does not work for Carolina Properties but rather she is employed by community where the home is located. We apologize if she was not friendly and helpful, she does not work with us or for us. It's just easier to be nice and we wish everyone felt the same.

Not much to report ...
Had a very enjoyable experience.
Conveniently Located 4 Bear Pause is about 15 minutes from the Lake Lure beach and Chimney Rock State Park and village. Lake Lure was ranked by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top scenic lakes in the world. There are water sport rental options (kayaks, wake boards, boats, etc.) and pontoon tours of the lake.
The iconic Chimney Rock, for which the village and State Park were named, was featured on Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine. The park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country’s 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains. There are also several excellent golf courses nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US.
This beautiful home is centrally located just 20 minutes from Bat Cave; 30 minutes from Hendersonville; 50 minutes from Asheville; and about 1.5 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less an 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.
If you enjoy scenic drives, head out of Lake Lure on Alt 74 (curvy and scenic Memorial Highway) through Chimney Rock Village, Bat Cave, Gerton, Fairview, toward Asheville to pick up what many consider the most beautiful length of road in this country, the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you have not traveled this stretch of road, it is something to add to your bucket list. Actor Norman Reedus of The Boondock Saints and The Walking Dead fame, featured the parkway on a 2016 episode of his AMC TV series Ride with Norman (Appalachia: Blue Ridge Parkway, Season 1 Episode 3). Just 1.25 hours from the home and five miles off the parkway is Maggie Valley, home to the Wheels Through Time transportation museum that features rare American motorcycles, memorabilia, and a distinct array of unique one-off American automobiles.
The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area is conveniently situated for an outdoor adventure including horseback riding, tubing, water sports, and hiking; museums and theater; the Biltmore Estate and Village; shopping and restaurants; and so much more.
