Welcome to Cottage in the Cove!

Special Notes: Linens and Towels are Not provided at this property nor is a washer/dryer/internet.

Wow! That was a lot of stairs but you made it and now look what a sweet cottage you are in right on the water! Before we make the beds and put out the towels let's take a look around. Look at that view! Let's walk through the kitchen and the living room to go out the back door - everyone wants to see the lake. I love looking at it from the kitchen and living room windows but it will be even better out here. Oh, look at the single chair sitting beneath the trees overlooking the lake, it reminds me of the perfect place for the strong silent type to sit or the one who likes their coffee with a spoonful of reflection. Look beside us at this amazing little flowing water waterfall creation - how lovely! Down the rock steps to the dock. What a cozy firepit and little cove - there's not a lot of privacy but this is really cute and comfortable! A great place to stay when you have activities planned such as coming to town for a wedding, trail riding at a local stable, hiking, or going to Biltmore. You will get a work out with the stairs but who doesn't need a little heart health and muscle building? Get that circulation moving! Did you rent a boat or plan on using the kayaks that are provided? This place is also perfect for those who want a lot of lake time adventure!

Let's go back inside and check out the house. Yes, the living room is comfortable with a pretty view and an open floor plan and the kitchen seems perfect to cook up some greens, beans, and cornbread while watching the sunset. Now, off to the downstairs bathroom and then upstairs. Wow, this bathroom is really nice! It's been redone like the rest of the house and has a modern feel. There is a dehumidifier here, it's not because the house is moist, it's just to protect this lakefront home from too much moisture from sitting so close to the water. Don't worry, you don't have to do anything to it and it's very quiet. Let's go upstairs using the charming spiral staircase. You can also access upstairs by going in an upper door but this time let's go this way, you might find you use it every time! The upstairs is like an adorable cottage, Who's sleeping on the daybed? Anyone? If not, I want to read a book and take a nap there! The upstairs bedroom is delightful and the tastefully remodeled modern half bathroom can be accessed from both the day bed sleeping area and the bedroom. Enjoy your stay and don't forget to add something to the guest journal!

Special Notes: Linens are not provided at this property nor is a washer/dryer. There are a lot of stairs to access the property. This home uses window units for air conditioning and electric heaters for heat.

Loved the experience but not all people could stay at cabin because of steps
We had a wonderful time. We are in our 50s and we got a little winded with the steps and we had to pass entrance and turn at the next driveway since the turn was very sharp into the road. The overall vacation was just what we needed and I would definitely stay again

She answered all my questions, I sent an email the day I booked due to having to change up the application, got a call from them within 5 minutes of hitting send. They were so professional and friendly.
The property was so peaceful and beautiful. It made us want to stay so much longer. We are actually looking to purchase a home on the lake so we will be returning soon. It was absolutely a dream vacation from the moment we arrived.

The person on call was able to give us detailed instructions when we were lost. Home was clean and well represented.
It was cold with no central heat but the view was amazing. The metal spiral staircase was difficult with the shower being downstairs and bedroom upstairs. If it hadnt rained the entire stay we could have enjoyed our stay more but we were trapped indoors with no internet to find things to do.

Very professional.
It was like an episode of fantasy island. We had a fantastic wedding anniversary at the place.

They were very easy to deal with. Always answered my questions in a very timely manner.
Me and my girlfriends absolutely loved cottage in the cove. Because of the age bracket I am in a lot of my peers and family would not be able to handle the 76 steps.

Your team was very friendly and helpful. Staff was very friendly and easy to contact.
Very charming. Very clean. Would be a great summer rental but not heated enough during cold weather. Also lots of stairs, I work out often and was winded at the top. Parking deck needs repair. Heat not sufficient for cold weather (home used two space heaters). Also parking scary because of retaining wall damage. Drive was a little scary for me, hard to travel roads at night. Wasnt expecting them to be so narrow and windy. Obviously it has nothing to do with the house but it maybe worth mentioning to someone who hasnt been to the area before.

Conveniently Located

Cottage In The Cove overlooks and offers access to Lake Lure, ranked by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top scenic lakes in the world. The Lake Lure beach is just several minutes from the home. There are several excellent golf courses nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US.

This quaint cottage is centrally located, just 10 minutes from Chimney Rock Village and State Park. The iconic Chimney Rock (for which the area was named) was featured on Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine. The park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country’s 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains.

It is only 15 minutes from Bat Cave; 35 minutes from Hendersonville; 50 minutes from Asheville; and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less an 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.

The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area is conveniently situated for outdoor adventure including horseback riding, tubing, water sports, and hiking; museums and theater; the Biltmore Estate and Village; shopping and restaurants; and so much more. For additional information and activities, see our Local Area Guide.
