The winding road, wish that was mentioned in the info. A bit scary drive not familiar with the area.

Called several days before our arrival asking about pontoon rental and was promised someone would call me back with information. Call never came. Called about operation of the stove and got return call promptly and after hours with good instructions. No other personal contact. Very easy to work with and book reservation. All information provided was thorough and very useful. Encountered no problems.

Rented a pontoon from another business on the lake and really enjoyed boating on the lake. Probably will visit Lake Lure again but will look for another place to stay. I would use Carolina Properties again.Property needs some upgrading. Parking difficult for the size of the accommodations. Layout of the floor design inconvenient with only access between levels by going outside. Location on the water, but no provision of any watercraft(canoes, kayaks, paddle boards or floats). Gas stove in kitchen needs updating and no instructions on the operation of a gas appliance. Trash from the last occupants had not been picked up, so we had to take our trash with us. A lot of outside steps as expected but some without adequate handrails.

I didnt have a need to speak to anyone on the team. All of our reservation was handled online. Great online reservation system. Communication about our reservation was clear and timely.

We are thankful for the large space so our extended family could all stay in the same location. The home is great space for a large group, but could certainly use some updating. Downstairs sofa is falling apart, most of the cookware is old and rusted, the porch screens have holes and are shredded in some places. We couldnt find the canoe the property description mentioned. It was clean and the beds were moderately comfortable.

Thank you for sharing this home with us and our family. We traveled from Miami to Run a Spartan Race at Black Mountain. The lake was a perfect place to cool off afterwards. The house was perfect for gathering and we spent countless hours re-living our race moments on the deck over barbeque dinner. Truly unforgettable trip. We cant wait to come back to this house next year. Thank you =) Perfect home for a large family. No Wifi and barely any cell service - which we LOVED. It forced us to be present and enjoy the home, the lake, and each other.

I had several questions at the property when deciding where to stay and during the process. Email responses were very timely and appreciated.

Great time at the lake! 7 of us had more than enough room in this very clean lake house over Memorial Day weekend. Manager very responsive to questions. Pros: Very clean, lake access very easy, beds very comfortable (bring an extra pillow or 2), 3 levels of porches were great for evening games/cocktails with great mountain/lake views(even in rain), large kitchen table made for great meals, plenty of dishes/utensils/cookware, Cons (Appeared to us that incremental upgrades are being done to this new rental property) Just want to mention a few things to help future renters: poor/no internet access, tv channels very limited, oven/stove is a "vintage" model, dock ladder needs an extra 2 steps given water level, could not find grill tools, parking limited to 3 spots, minimal lake toys available. Overall, this is a lovely property that I feel the owners will continue to make better and better. Thanks again for a great stay!

Notes

Conveniently Located
Around The Lake overlooks and offers access to Lake Lure, ranked by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top scenic lakes in the world. The Lake Lure beach is just several minutes from the home. There are several excellent golf courses nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US.

This beautiful home is centrally located, just 10 minutes from Chimney Rock Village and State Park. The iconic Chimney Rock (for which the area was named) was featured on Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine. The park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country’s 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains.

It is only 15 minutes from Bat Cave; 35 minutes from Hendersonville; 50 minutes from Asheville; and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less an 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.

The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area is conveniently situated for outdoor adventure including horseback riding, tubing, water sports, and hiking; museums and theater; the Biltmore Estate and Village; shopping and restaurants; and so much more. For additional information and activities, see our Local Area Guide.
