Description

Perfect Lakefront Getaway for Relaxation and Lake Fun

Located on Lake Lure, Wallace Lake House offers breathtaking views of the mountains and lake from the deck and patio. If the views and the sound of the water lapping don’t carry away your stress, stepping into the lake and feeling the sand between your toes should do the trick! The water depth is shallow and increases gradually, which is nice for wading and children (sorry, no four-legged family members). This home is 7.6 miles to the Beach at Lake Lure, 9.1 miles to Chimney Rock State Park, and 19.4 miles to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).

Great for Family Gatherings and Wheelchair Accessible

The road entrance to the home is on the upper level of the house. There is a ramp to the door and to the boathouse deck, making it accessible for family in a wheelchair.

Comfortable Living

This lakefront rental has all of the comforts of home. This upper level has the washer and dryer conveniently located near the stairs leading to the main level. This level also has a full bath and 4 bedrooms.

Down the stairs is the main level of this cozy home. The open floor plan is perfect for the views and to spend time with family and friends. If you stand at the bottom of the stairs, straight ahead is a spacious, fully equipped kitchen. To the left is the dining area and further still is the living area. On this main floor is another bedroom and full bathroom (shower stall-no bathtub) and the sofa converts to a sleeper. This home also offers internet service, 6 televisions, and basic cable.

Behind the sofa is a bank of large windows. Just open the blinds to admire the beauty of Lake Lure and the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

Wonderful Outdoor Spaces

If you want to get a little closer to nature, to the right of the bank of windows is the door to the deck. Near the house are trees that shade a portion of the deck. This is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning beverage or to relax out of the full sun of the afternoon. If you prefer sun, the spacious deck offers plenty of options. Relax on the dock or on the deck atop the boat house.

Perfect Every Season

With the area's temperate climate and beauty, this home can be enjoyed throughout the year. Springtime brings the blooming of the dogwood and red bud trees as well as the azaleas, rhododendron, and mountain laurel. Summer brings lush greenery and the autumn colors are extraordinary. Autumn's red and gold hues are breathtaking; the region is know for its fall colors. Winters are mild and, with less tree obstruction, views are incredible.

Always helpful. I have already recommended your company to several friends & family, they see our family pics that we post on our facebook and Instagram accounts and love seeing the lake etc and want to know where we stay.

We have visited Chimney Rock/Lake Lure for the past 15 years, the family - Moms, Dads, aunts, uncles, cousins all meet up and have fun eating, shopping, laughing and sharing memories and making new ones. Wallace Lake House is nice & accommodating for our needs. We will see y'all next year!

The Wallace House it self is nice for a lake rental property (has soap, washer dryer, trahs bags, things needed on vacation) - its the outisde that needs work to prevent injury and safety. Not to mention the Neighbors are over it - they would probably complain if you didnt make noise - lord help you if you bring a float. :) But if they fix some of the outside railing and boards we will rent again. Buy a fruit cake for the neighbors and try to get off on the right foot with them.

This was our 3rd year at the Wallace house...we love the place. Wish owners would do a little update ie, perhaps some type of awning on back deck, but as I said its like coming home.

I only had to talk with staff one time but they were very helpful with my questions, as well as giving me additional information that I wouldn't have thought to ask about. The rental property was everything it was supposed to be...had a blast.

We were four ladies looking to relax and enjoy some down time with each other. This was easily accomplished at the Wallace House. There was plenty of space for us in the bedrooms; loved the nice large kitchen and the outdoor spaces too. We were even able to enjoy time on the water in a kayak we brought with us. Highly recommend using Carolina Properties. Wallace Lake House was a great rental, with the only problem being so many steps to actually get down to the water itself. The house had easy access from the parking area, with easy access to the deck above the boat house. And there was no food delivery to the house. Loved the large kitchen, the layout, and the way it was stocked with everything we needed for our stay.

Valerie was great! She was always pleasant and friendly on the phone and made us feel welcome and appreciated. We were able to change our dates a couple of times before we arrived and got a refund without delay. She delivered requested deck chairs the first night we were there, and even offered us a choice of chair style. She offered to help us find another property for next time. We really appreciated her!

We had a great time with our family. The kids loved swimming in the lake and jumping off the boat house. We would have loved to have some water toys that worked though.

I would suggest leaving a paper with the rules and check out procedure in the home, makes it easier then trying to find it on our phone. Otherwise great time!

Wallace Lake House was perfect for the 11 of us our life group. We loved being right on the water. The house was spacious enough that we didn't feel cramped. The house was very clean and decently maintained. It was close to the towns of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. We will definitely stay here again if we have another life group trip to the area.

This is our second time renting Wallace Lake House, the home is very nice and accomodates our family well, it is very well designed for our memebers who are dealing with back pain etc. One thing to note this year was that one of the recliners was broken and would not recline.

We really enjoyed staying in a house on the water. The views were beautiful and the swimming great. The neighbors were friendly. Losing power for 16 hours on our last day ( no fault of Carolina Properties or the house itself) was challenging. It was hot so we opened the windows that had screens, packed the fridge and freezer items in coolers, and headed down to the water. The view was great and we stayed in the water almost all day, every day. The kitchen has been done nicely and had everything we needed. The bathrooms were in good shape. The house was clean. However the house does need some maintenance. The bannister in the house is broken and not reliable if you really need to use it. The seating in the living room is way past end of life. There is a broken recliner leaning against the wall. The three couches are broken down, bottomed out. They remind me of something that may have come from a garage sale. The stone steps leading down to the dock are broken and loose and need proper repair. Previous attempts at repair not holding up. Landscape down by the water is very overgrown. The swing under the house is no longer there and thats kind of my thing. We brought 2 large umbrellas from home and it was a good thing. The umbrella for the deck table was broken and there was no other shade. I realize most of this is on the homeowner but Carolina Properties needs to work with them to rectify these issues. NOTE from Carolina Properties: We have discussed these issues with the owners on several occasions and will continue our efforts to improve the quality, comfort and safety of this home.

How was clean, but not well maintained. Broken banister, broken light in the kitchen, missing window screens; I would not advertise the house as having internet; it was so slow you could not use it. Broken stone stairs down to the water are dangerous.

Just wish for a wee update. Overall, this house accommodated our family aged 19 months to 60 years really well. The vintage toys were a super surprise. Lots of puzzles and games, although the weather our week was picture perfect and the children stayed in the water until 9pm some evenings! We found the area recreational facilities great, we rented a pontoon boat for a few hours and hired out a boat that actually came to the house dock to pick us up for tubing. The location and closeness to the golf courses, Ingles and Chimney Rock was perfect. It was a wonderful week!

Notes

Conveniently Located

Wallace Lake House overlooks and offers access to Lake Lure, ranked by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top scenic lakes in the world. The Lake Lure beach is just several minutes from the home. There are several excellent golf courses nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US.

This comfortable home is centrally located, just 10 minutes from Chimney Rock State Park and village. The iconic Chimney Rock (for which the village and park are named) was featured on Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine. The park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country’s 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains.

It is only 15 minutes from Bat Cave; 35 minutes from Hendersonville; 50 minutes from Asheville; and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less an 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.

The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area is conveniently situated for outdoor adventure including horseback riding, tubing, water sports, and hiking; museums and theater; the Biltmore Estate and Village; shopping and restaurants; and so much more. For additional information and activities, just see our Local Area Guide.
