Did not have any interaction with Carolina Properties.
This was a great property for our group. We loved the fire pit and river. The porches overlooking the water were great. The only drawback was that the bathrooms that had showers were all in the bedrooms, so guests who slept upstairs had to go to another guest's bedroom to shower. Great home for our purposes.

The staff is very customer focused and the reservation system is exceptionally well designed. Possibly the best on line system I have ever used.
Very nice lodge, in a great location. Appearing very wilderness like and yet very convenient to town and amenities. Very nice for people needing a large number of individual rooms and showers and good value in terms of price.

When I spoke with a lady on the phone, she was very nice and helpful.
Our family enjoyed the stay. We cooked on the grill almost everyday. We had smores by the firepit, which was fun. Beds were fine, plenty of towels. Did miss the ice maker. We bought ice, which is aggravating. Loved the porch by the river! Such a lovely view!

Didnt really work with anyone. Received a couple of emails. A pass to access the lake via the gated property just down from River Edge was to have been provided but we never received one.
Needs a bit of up-keep. The upholstery could use a good cleaning. The toaster and the ice maker in the refrigerator did not work. With a large group theres going to be some who like a cool room at night to sleep and others who prefer to be warmer so extra blankets would be nice to have so everyone can be comfortable.
Otherwise, the house suited our group of ten very well. Adequate seating for conversations and for meals. We loved sitting on the deck and listening to the sound of the river rolling over the rocks.

The staff was great and responsive, I needed to call twice to ask questions twice over the weekend and the staff was very helpful both times. Great house at a fair price, employees were very responsive and helpful when I had questions.
Beautiful location, lots of room, and it feels isolated while still being pretty close to chimney rock and lake lure. There were some small thing like little holes in the door and a pretty beat up kitchen table, but some of that stuff is expected.

Excellent customer service!!!!
We didn't find the bath mats till Wednesday because they'd been left in the dryer. They were a little smelly/damp, so we didn't use them. BUT, that's a little picky. We had a lovely stay!!!
Everything worked as it should have, we had lots of room, and really enjoyed the porch over the river!
We would definitely come back!!!

The property was beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. Our only issues were lack of internet ( I didnt mind this so much but my husband needed to attend to a business matter and no internet caused him a delay). And wed have liked to have an extra blanket or two available.

Our experience in working with your team was just fine. Check in process was easy and communication was good.
Like I stated previously the river rest house needs maintenance and updating. I would not recommend it for that reason. I feel if you are going to rent homes out for vacations that they must be properly maintained for safety and functionality. River Rest is definitely at the point where it needs all of this. Property fit our size needs and overall was beautiful. However the house is definitely in need of maintenance. The kitchen floors are horribly cracked with loose tiles and tiles missing. The solution was to cover it with a rug by the island. It was raining and we found there is a roof leak in the dining area. There is a lot of rotten wood on the decks and roof areas. The tubs have cheap fixtures which makes you feel like you are going to break them when you are just trying to turn on your shower. The hot water in the sink in the master bathroom does not even turn on. So we could only use cold. The gas was not refilled for the fireplace so we only got one fire before it ran out. We do appreciate the timely response and refill of the tank. All in all it is time for the house to get some much needed maintenance and refreshing.
NOTE: From Carolina Properties: Flooring and fixtures are scheduled to be completed in early January, we will also be doing some painting and other updates, we tried to get them there before the holidays but couldn't. We apologize they were not completed for your stay and we sincerely apologize :(

River Rest was a perfect fit for our group-- everyone had their own space and the kitchen & living room areas are open and great for hanging out together. The location was convenient to everything we wanted to see, the parking was easy, and there were no environmental disruptions. Hopefully will return!

River Rest is only 10 minutes from the Lake Lure beach and Chimney Rock State Park and Village. Lake Lure was ranked by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top scenic lakes in the world. There are water sport rental options (kayaks, wake boards, boats, etc.) and pontoon tours of the lake.
The iconic Chimney Rock, for which the State Park was named, was featured on Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine. The park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country’s 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains. There are also several excellent golf courses nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US.
This cozy home is centrally located just 15 minutes from Bat Cave; 35 minutes from Hendersonville; 50 minutes from Asheville; and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less an 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.
