Description

Location, Location, Location

With this home, location has to be discussed first. It offers, from its front porch, a direct view of Chimney Rock, the iconic feature of Chimney Rock State Park. The chimney was featured on Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine, and the park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country’s 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains. This home is 2/10 mile from Chimney Rock State Park, 1.7 miles to the Beach at Lake Lure, and 20.1 miles to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).

The entrance to the park is just two blocks from this home. The restaurants and quaint shops of Chimney Rock Village are just around the block. At the home, you can even hear the sounds of the picturesque, trout-filled Rocky Broad. There are plenty of places to fish at the river and a boardwalk to enjoy the beauty.

If you enjoy scenic drives, head out of Chimney Rock Village on the scenic and curvy Alt US-74 (Memorial Highway). This stretch of highway in the Hickory Nut Gorge has 14 hairpin turns and runs through Bat Cave, Gerton, Fairview. Continue on toward Asheville to pick up what many consider the most beautiful length of road in this country, the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you have not traveled any stretch of this road, it is something to add to your bucket list. Actor Norman Reedus of The Boondock Saints and The Walking Dead fame, featured the parkway on a 2016 episode of his AMC TV series Ride with Norman (Appalachia: Blue Ridge Parkway, Season 1 Episode 3). Just 1.25 hours from the home and five miles off the parkway is Maggie Valley, home to the Wheels Through Time transportation museum that features rare American motorcycles, memorabilia, and a distinct array of unique one-off American automobiles.

This home also boasts a small attached garage. The garage, along with paved roads in the area, proximity to the curves of Memorial Highway, and the beauty of Blue Ridge Parkway, make this home perfect for those riding motorcycles.

Comfort and Value

Additionally, this Chimney Rock vacation rental home offers accommodations for 4, with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, at a fantastic value. It is furnished with high-quality and comfortable leather sofa and chair in the living room; unique, locally crafted pieces throughout the home; as well as some antiques. The homeowners personally selected and placed each item as though they occupied the home full time, with your comfort in mind.

Enjoy the view and sounds of nature from the comfortable resin Adirondack-style chairs. At the rear of the home are a stone patio, picnic table, and gas grill offering the perfect setting for enjoying a meal outdoors. The NASA memory foam mattresses, the 600-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, refreshing mountain air, and soothing Rocky Broad rushing waters will bring you back again and again just for the relaxing sleep!

I have stayed several times and Valerie is always on top of things. I like how now you can text them rather than call if you have an issue.

This home is located in a beautiful area with a GREAT view of Chimney Rock. It is well equipped with very comfortable furniture...especially the beds! It is tastefully decorated and our family was very comfortable. The high speed internet was appreciated although I kept asking myself why I was on the internet and not enjoying the natural beauty? Each evening about 10 deer were grazing next door...absolutely beautiful! The location is great. A few minutes to the entrance of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure about a mile away. The price was right too...in our opinion, this rental was a great value!

The transaction with the property manager was seamless. This home was everything it was advertised to be. We loved our stay and will return again! Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Sightseeing, Girls Getaway, Adventure Seekers, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers

My stay at Chimney View was a fabulous experience. The cabin was clean, tastefully decorated, and very well maintained. The natural wood paneling, flooring, and cabinetry were beautiful. The location was perfect for the wedding festivities I attended at Laughing Waters Retreat in Gerton on Fri-Sun, shopping at Manual Woodworkers outlet in Gerton and enjoying the beautiful Flowering Bridge at Lake Lure. I will return and would recommend the property to family and friends.

Notes

Conveniently Located

Chimney View is just minutes from the Lake Lure beach, ranked by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top scenic lakes in the world. There are several excellent golf courses nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US.

This quaint mountain home is centrally located just minutes from Bat Cave; 35 minutes from Hendersonville; 50 minutes from Asheville; and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less an 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.

The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area is conveniently situated for an outdoor adventure including horseback riding, tubing, water sports, and hiking; museums and theater; the Biltmore Estate and Village; shopping and restaurants; and so much more.
