Relax and Unwind Lake Lure Lakefront

The Hardigree Lake House is a one-of-a-kind home perfect for a family vacation or romantic getaway (sorry, no four-legged guests allowed). Perched at the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains overlooking lovely Lake Lure with lake frontage, this focus of this home is enjoying the lake and the beauty of the mountains.

It offers a unique beach area that is shallow and gradually increases in depth. Few Lake Lure homes have such an enticing amenity. It is perfect for wading and for children to splash around.
Just imagine fishing from the dock (license required) or just sitting and dangling your feet in the water. If you are looking for a little more activity, enjoy the kayak, pedal boat (seats 4), and canoe. Bring your own boat to tie to the dock (be sure to review the Town of Lake Lure boating regulations) for even more lake adventures. Inside the boat house is a game room for the young or young-at-heart to enjoy.

If you want to enjoy the beauty of the area on land, you can step onto the upstairs porch to greet the morning with your tea or coffee. Relax on the hammock, deck chairs, or chaise lounge.

The screened porch calls for an evening of relaxation and soothing breezes or a great place to have lunch or supper. You can even enjoy the panoramic views from this spot and from every room in the home. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking, as are the layered mountain vistas. Plus, the home is just 7 miles from the Beach at Lake Lure, 8.4 miles to Chimney Rock State Park, and 18.7 miles to the TIEC (Tryon International Equestrian Center).

Charm and Comfort Await You Indoors

This home was built about 5 years ago (on an existing foundation) to resemble a quaint lake cottage. Every room offers comfort and the eclectic décor is charming and playful. The nice finishes and unusual uses of the vintage and antique items, as well as those specific to Lake Lure, make the home inviting and very special. It is obvious that every piece and finish in this home was selected with care.

Main Level Gathering

As soon as you enter, you will see the owners left their personal touch everywhere, even above the entry with a personal greeting that is truly fitting of this area:

It is here, where mist touches peak and lake rises to greet

To the left of the entrance door is the cozy living area. In addition to the comfortable sofas (queen sleeper sofa coming soon), there is a flat-screen TV, modern table, and vintage trunks. The ceiling fans are new but have a vintage feel with their caged lights.

Past the living area is the combined kitchen/dining area. The kitchen island has a distressed base and vintage-looking leg spindles that support the island's breakfast bar. The breakfast bar seats 4 and the stools are cleverly painted red and white to resemble life preservers. Above the island is a vintage metal basket that was converted to a light fixture with 3 Edison lights.

Beyond the island are the kitchen fixtures. There is a vintage-look high-back farm sink beside contemporary stainless steel appliances and traditional cabinetry. Another highlight of the kitchen is the vintage-looking cabinet with glass doors and small spice drawers above the electric smooth-top range.

To the left of the island, against the wall of lakeside windows, is a table for 5 or 6 (depending how many can sit comfortably on the bench seat). Above it is a hanging light with a glass globe that would have been found in an old schoolhouse. With the main level open floor plan and numerous windows, you can enjoy the views from every angle as well as each other's company.

If you walk in straight through the door, past the small hall that leads to the lower level stairs, is a bookcase with a round brass mirror above it that is reminiscent of a ship porthole with an eagle at the top. It looks as though it belonged in a ship captain's quarters. Past the bookcase is the door to the full bath. Here you will find a contemporary vanity, sink, and faucet with a mirror with an early-American look. The walk-in shower has beautiful glass doors and unique stone and wood-like tiles.

Just past the bathroom is a bedroom with a queen bed, windows on two walls, a bureau, and vintage tables and pictures. The rest of the home follows this mix of contemporary, vintage and unique; and the homeowners made it all work together beautifully for your comfort and enjoyment.

Lower Level Relaxation

Turn right at the entry door and there is a little nook with a rocking chair and a wall sconce that matches the round port-hole mirror. It resembles an electrified wall-mounted brass oil lamp. The stairs, with wood handrail and metal spindles, lead to the lower level that has three bedrooms and a full bath.

There is a bedroom with a queen bed and another with a twin and a full bed. Each boasts 3 large windows and wonderful lake views. The lower level master bedroom has a king bed, TV, and a private deck with a bistro table and chairs. There is even a Keurig station in the bedroom so you can grab your morning coffee and head out to breathe in the fresh lake air. The 3-piece full bath on this level has a contemporary vanity, sink, faucet, and mirror along with a bathtub/shower combination.

Perfect Every Season

Spend time at The Hardigree Lake House any time of the year, for the lake fun, beauty of the area, and relaxed comfort of the home. With the temperate climate, the lake can be enjoyed year round. The area is lovely in the spring when everything is just beginning to bloom. Imagine canoeing on the lake in autumn when with the breathtaking red and gold hues. In winter, with the absence of leaves on the trees, you will see an entirely new view. In summer, the weather is perfect nearly every day.

Very helpful. The Hardigree lake house was easily accessed and very clean.
Enjoyed the stay and the view of the lake and mountain was great, especially when the sun came up and made the mountains across the lake glow. Everything was exceptionally clean and made you feel at home.

Everyone I spoke with was super friendly and helpful, making our short trip stress free.
The property was a great get away with a lot of steps which we loved. Physically compromised seniors or anyone may have a hard time with the stairs. The house had super comfortable beds and was very clean.

As mentioned above, the property manager was very sweet and accommodating!
The house was great! Lots of stairs as mentioned, but that's because it's on a steeper slope of the lake. Parking was ample, kitchen had everything we needed to cook all meals. We had a terrific stay! Reservation confirmation and check-in instructions were all easy to follow, and I received immediate responses. Any issues were dealt with immediately, and the property manager went out of her way to ensure we had a pleasant stay. The house was very cute and well stocked with amenities!

We had visit from staff that were checking up on report of BBQ gas leak. Must have been prior guests as we had no problem with the BBQ though my husband did switch out tanks, could have been loose connection. Mentioned that the garage bin lid was off hinges, next day they were there fixing the bin lid.
Beautiful home, especially being on the water with small beach. We had our 2 yr old grandaughter who loved the swimming! Very well maintained home, just wished we would have had a broom to sweep up the kitchen area. We plan on renting same home next year. Had a great time! Only issue was with check in, we arrived at office to pick up keys and did not know we needed a code to get our package. I did go back and check all my email correspondence and did not receive a code. Our paperwork just stated to pick up keys from office. Another couple who had rented with you before who were waiting until 3pm as their keys were not there, accessed the safe and got our package for us. I may have missed it but checked twice. REPLY: So sorry about possible missing email we will look into and resolve for future ease in checking in. Unfortunately even if you had the code, the home would not have been available prior to 3 pm (normal check-in time) because it was booked back to back and previous guests just checked out at 10:30 am :( Hope you will give us another chance!

Conveniently Located

The Hardigree Lake House overlooks and offers access to Lake Lure, ranked by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top scenic lakes in the world. The Lake Lure beach is just several minutes from the home. There are several excellent golf courses nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US.

This beautiful home is centrally located, just 10 minutes from Chimney Rock State Park and village. The iconic Chimney Rock (for which the village and park are named) was featured on Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine. The park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country’s 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains.

It is only 15 minutes from Bat Cave; 35 minutes from Hendersonville; 50 minutes from Asheville; and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less an 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.

The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area is conveniently situated for an outdoor adventure including horseback riding, tubing, water sports, and hiking; museums and theater; the Biltmore Estate and Village; shopping and restaurants; and so much more.
