Description

Perfect for Family Vacation or Romantic Getaway

Bear Moon Lodge is ideal for a family vacation or romantic getaway (sorry, no four-legged guests). Located in Lake Lure, North Carolina, it offers 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, 1 half bath, and sleeps up to 9 comfortably. With 3 levels of living space, there are great gathering spaces and also adequate privacy. This home is 5.4 miles from the Beach at Lake Lure, 6.7 miles to Chimney Rock State Park, and 17 miles to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).

If you have to get a little work in, there are desks and internet access. The loft and oversized leather chair offer a nice place to curl up with a good book. The numerous televisions will ensure everyone is able to watch his or her favorite program.

Beautiful Details and Optimal Comfort

The exterior of the home features a combination of wood and stone that fit the mountain location perfectly. It is situated so there are breathtaking views of Lake Lure and the Blue Ridge Mountains in nearly all of the rooms of the home. On the interior, the use of drywall on some of the walls draws your attention to the warm color of the wood and to the home's many architectural details. Additionally, the wood and painted walls combination make the home more like a hybrid between a warm log cabin and cozy lake cottage, and the mix works together wonderfully.

When you enter through the kitchen, the lightness of the white cabinetry, light-color backsplash tiles with aluminum accents, dark center island, contemporary stainless steel appliances, and gorgeous granite countertops offer the perfect complement to the wood floors and ceiling beams. Just beyond the kitchen is the dining room, with a table that seats 6, that leads to the living area.

A wall of windows in the dining and living areas floods the open space with light and serves as an ever-changing gallery of the artwork of Nature. Focal points of the living area are the windows and the beautiful stone fireplace.

Each of the three levels has sleeping quarters, TV, and a full bathroom. On the main level is a bedroom with a king bed and adjoining full bath with double vanity, shower, and jetted tub. You can just step through the French doors to enjoy the deck. There is also a half bath on this level. On the upper level is a bedroom with queen bed, TV, and full bath. This level has the desk area. The lower level offers a bedroom with a king bed, TV, adjoining bathroom, and French doors that offer easy access to the outdoors. In addition to the second gas fireplace and gathering space, there is also a twin/full bed bunk set on this level.

Seasonal Splendor

No matter the season, this refined mountain home provides a perfect mountain escape. Stay in the spring when the foliage is beginning to bloom and daytime temperatures average in the 60s. Enjoy your morning coffee on one of the decks or relax away the afternoon in one of the outdoor rocking chairs. Visit in the summer when the weather is perfect—warm but not humid. Unwind with the soothing breezes and views from the porch overlook. With the upper deck outdoor seating and gas grill, enjoy cooking and dining in the fresh mountain air.

Come later in the year when a cozy log cabin feels just right; the autumn colors in this area are breathtaking and the winter weather opens an entirely new view with the leaves absent from the trees. Stay warm by the fireplace or relax in the jetted tub in the master bath.

The scenic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and waters of Lake Lure can be viewed from nearly every room in the house. You will even enjoy the sunlight through the large windows throughout the day; the soft orange of sunrise; the warmth and brightness of the midday sun; and the majesty of sunset with its pink and blue hues. Seeing all of this reflected on the lake adds to the ambiance.

Easy to check in and conduct business with.

Great home. A couple of things, minor. Instructions for how to use the gas logs. Many light bulbs were out. Maybe add a book on local attractions and places to eat (with menus). Again minor, but a nice touch for visitors. Clean and as advertised. Everything you need is there. Beautiful home.

Bear Moon Lodge was a great home for our family "Thanksgiving" vacation. Great views of mountains and lake. Plenty of room for our family of eight. The steep drive way was a little tricky at first but we soon figured it out.

When we had to evacuate our homes in SC due to Hurricane Matthew and needed a place to stay a couple of days prior to our planned trip, Valerie was most helpful in making suggestions since the lodge was already booked.

Bear Moon Lodge is a beautiful property with great amenities and an amazing view of the mountains and Lake Lure. We vacationed there with two other couples and enjoyed the fact that though the common areas are lovely, the lodge also offers the privacy of bedrooms and baths on all three stories. We'd return again in a heartbeat!

Notes

Conveniently Located

Bear Moon Lodge is about 10 minutes from the Lake Lure beach and Chimney Rock State Park and village. Lake Lure was ranked by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top scenic lakes in the world. There are water sport rental options (kayaks, wake boards, boats, etc.) and pontoon tours of the lake.

The iconic Chimney Rock, for which the village and State Park are named, was featured on Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine. The park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country’s 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains. There are also several excellent golf courses nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US.

This beautiful home is centrally located just 15 minutes from Bat Cave; 35 minutes from Hendersonville; 50 minutes from Asheville; and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less an 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.

The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area is conveniently situated for an outdoor adventure including horseback riding, tubing, water sports, and hiking; museums and theater; the Biltmore Estate and Village; shopping and restaurants; and so much more.
